Le parcours du couple n’a pas été sans défis. En raison de la guerre en cours en Ukraine, leur mère porteuse a été déplacée à Chypre pour des raisons de sécurité. Laura et Alan étaient présents pour la scanographie des 20 semaines, se préparant à la naissance de leur fils avec un mélange d’anticipation et d’anxiété. « J’ai lu beaucoup de livres et de blogs, acheté les meubles et les vêtements pour bébé. J’ai voulu être parent pendant 20 ans, je savais juste que quand je tiendrais mon bébé dans mes bras, tout se mettrait en place, et c’est ce qui s’est passé », réfléchit Laura.
6 juillet 2024 – une année de premières
En réfléchissant à leur première année en tant que parents, Laura partage les hauts et les bas émotionnels. « C’était une année de premières pour nous deux. Ce n’était pas une année où l’on finissait une tasse de thé, où l’on mangeait un repas sans interruption, ou encore où l’on prenait une belle douche longue. C’était une année où j’ai appris à connaître un nouveau moi, une année où je me suis présentée chaque jour malgré la fatigue ou les émotions. Une année à te tenir dans mes bras, une année à te chanter des chansons pour te calmer, une année à me réveiller avec ton sourire incroyable. Une année qui a passé trop vite, et maintenant je suis à tes côtés pour te souhaiter un premier anniversaire très spécial. Je ne me souviens pas des nuits blanches, du brouillard cérébral, ou des jours où j’oubliais de me brosser les dents. Je me souviens de toi, de ton sourire, de ton rire, et de comment tu as guéri mon âme. Joyeux premier anniversaire, Levon, plein d’amour, Mama. »

Reflexionando sobre su primer año como padres, Laura comparte los altos y bajos emocionales. «Este fue un año de primeras veces para ambos. No fue un año de terminar una taza de té, de comer una comida sin interrupciones, o de tener una ducha larga y agradable. Fue un año en el que conocí a una nueva yo, un año en el que estuve presente cada día sin importar lo cansada o emocional que me sintiera. Un año de sostenerte en mis brazos, un año de cantarte para calmarte, un año de despertar con tu increíble sonrisa. Un año que pasó demasiado rápido, y ahora me siento junto a ti deseándote un muy especial primer cumpleaños. No recuerdo las noches sin dormir, la niebla mental, o los días en que olvidé cepillarme los dientes. Te recuerdo a ti, tu sonrisa, tu risa, y cómo sanaste mi alma. Feliz primer cumpleaños, Levon, con mucho amor, Mamá.»

Laura und Alan waren bei der 20-Wochen-Untersuchung dabei und bereiteten sich mit einer Mischung aus Vorfreude und Angst auf die Geburt ihres Sohnes vor. «Ich habe viele Bücher und Blogs gelesen, Babymöbel und Kleidung gekauft. Ich wollte seit 20 Jahren Eltern werden und wusste einfach, dass alles in Ordnung sein würde, sobald ich meinen kleinen Jungen in den Armen halten würde, und so war es auch», reflektiert Laura.
6. Juli 2024 – ein Jahr voller Erster Male
Laura erinnert sich an die emotionalen Höhen und Tiefen ihres ersten Jahres als Eltern. «Dies war ein Jahr voller Erster Male für uns beide. Es war kein Jahr, in dem man eine Tasse Tee austrinken, eine Mahlzeit ohne Unterbrechung essen oder eine lange Dusche genießen konnte. Es war ein Jahr, in dem ich mich selbst neu entdeckte, ein Jahr, in dem ich jeden einzelnen Tag da war, egal wie müde oder emotional ich mich fühlte. Ein Jahr, in dem ich dich in meinen Armen hielt, ein Jahr, in dem ich dir vorsang, um dich zu beruhigen, ein Jahr, in dem ich zu deinem erstaunlichen Lächeln erwachte. Ein Jahr, das viel zu schnell verging, und jetzt sitze ich neben dir und wünsche dir einen ganz besonderen ersten Geburtstag. Ich erinnere mich nicht an die schlaflosen Nächte, den Gehirnnebel oder die Tage, an denen ich vergaß, mir die Zähne zu putzen. Ich erinnere mich an dich, dein Lächeln, dein Lachen und wie du meine Seele geheilt hast. Herzlichen Glückwunsch zum ersten Geburtstag, Levon, viel Liebe, Mama.»

It wasn’t a year of finishing a cup of tea, or eating a meal without interruption, or getting to have a nice long shower. It was a year where I got to know a new me, a year where I turned up every single day no matter how tired or how emotional I felt. A year of holding you in my arms, a year of singing to you to calm you down, a year of waking to your amazing smile. A year that flew by all too quickly, and now I sit beside you wishing you a very special first birthday. I don’t remember the sleepless nights, the brain fog, or the days when I forgot to brush my teeth. I remember you, your smile, your laugh, and how you healed my soul. Happy first birthday, Levon, lots of love, Mama.»
